Summary:

Livingston Clough Hickling, Lieutenant Colonel (LTC), was born on June 17, 1979, in Palmer, Alaska. In September 1996, he enlisted in the military as an infantryman, completing Basic Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Benning, Georgia. LTC Hickling received his baccalaureate degrees in science and liberal arts from Excelsior College and the University of Hawaii in Hilo, respectively.

After graduating from the 298th Regional Training Institute's (RTI) State Officer Candidate School, LTC Hickling was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the Hawaii Army National Guard (HIARNG) as an Infantry Officer on August 25, 2001.

His previous assignments include Platoon Leader (PL) C Co/299 Infantry Battalion (IN BN), Scout PL in Headquarter Headquarters (HHD) 2-299th IN BN; Commander, HHC 2-299th IN BN; Mobilizations Planner, G3 Hawaii Army National Guard Element-Joint Forces Headquarters (JFHQ); S1 29th IBCT; Team Leader (forward 30) 29 Infantry Brigade Combat Team Security Forces Assistance Team (SFAT); Executive Officer of Hawaii Recruiting and Retention Battalion (RRB); Plans Officer HIARNG G3; S3 Operations Officer 103 Troop Command and most recently served as the National Guard Bureau G3 Souring Officer.

Livingston will be remembered for his unselfish and true dedication to his Ohana, Soldiers, and friends, as well as his professionalism in all of his assignments. All that knew him witnessed and experienced his passion for God, Family, and the Army.

Among LTC Hickling's awards and decorations are the Bronze Star with two bronze oak leaf clusters, Army Commendation Medal with one bronze oak leaf cluster, Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, and Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal with three bronze oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal with star, NATO Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon with numeral 2, Army Reserve Component Overseas Training Ribbon with numeral 2, Global War War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal INherent Resolve and Iraq Campaign Medal with 2 stars, Meritorious Unit Citation with two bronze Oak leaf Cluster. The Ranger Tab, Combat Infantry Badge, Expert Infantry Badge, and Air Assault Badge are among the specialty badges acquired.

LTC Hickling's military education includes the Infantry Officer Basic Course, Infantry Captain Career's Course, Intermediate Level Education Common Course PH3, Expert Infantry Course, Ranger Course, Reserve Component Unit Mobilization Course, Mobilization Integration course, Security Forces Assistance Training Course, Anti-Terrorism Officer Basic Course, and Army National Guard Strategic Planning and Management Course.
