Edward I. Ablang

Summary:
Edward and his wife Kelsey grew from middle school sweethearts to soul mates.
He joined the U.S. Army in 2007 and graduated from basic training in Fort Jackson, SC in September. SGT. Ablang and his family were stationed in Fort Campbell, KY then Bamber Germany before arriving at Fort Riley, KS in May 2013. He deployed once to Iraq and once to Afghanistan.
Sgt. Ablang was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 601st Aviation Support Battalion, 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, 1st Infantry Division. He was a 91B wheeled vehicle mechanic.
He loved playing with his kids, riding his motorcycle, BBQing and playing softball with his unit team.
His talents included writing poems and playing music. He enjoyed playing the guitar and drawing as well.
Kelsey stated, “He was an incredible human being and my best friend. He is missed dearly by those closest to him. He was someone you always wanted to be around.”
