Special Survivor Indemnity Allowance The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS)
Since October 2008, surviving spouses whose SBP payments have been offset (partially or totally) as a result of receiving DIC, are eligible for the Special Survivor Indemnity Allowance. The Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS) will automatically pay SSIA.
